Pasiuna

Ngani ang usa sa lima ka mga silíd (course) nga gitudlòb sa Colegio de Loboc o Balay Kaalam sa Loboc, mao ang pagka-tro bador (minstrel) sukad pa sa tuig 1605 hangtod sa tuid 1768.

Atong tukibon karon ang mga kahimanan sa pagtugtog ug uban pang mga mahunihon nga mga pulong.

Mga Kahimanan

1. akordiyón – (Sp: acordeon). Accordion, a kind of musical instrument

2. aliyáwyaw – A leaf of a plant played as a musical instrument by blowing it at the lips.

3. álpa-(Sp: arpa). Harp; lyre. A type of stringed musical instrument.

4. bandiyo – (Eng: banjo). Banjo; a stringed musical instrument of the guitar family using

animal skin as sounding board. Also, bánjo.

5. bandolín – (Sp: bandolin). Mandolin; a stringed musical instrument with a pear-shaped

wooden body and a fretted neck.

6. bandórya – (Sp: bandurria). Bandore, a musical stringed instrument resembling a lute or

guitar.

7. biyolín – (Sp: violin). Violin, as musical instrument. (Kp: gítgit; dabíl; litgít).

8. biyúgol – (Eng: bugle). Bugle, a cornet-like wind musical instrument used for sounding

signals. (Kp: tulúnggon).

9. buktót – Lute. A musical instrument.

10. dabíl – Fiddle; kind of musical instrument similar toa violin. (Kp: gítgit; litgít).

11. gurimbáw – A kind of native stringed musical instrument.

12. klarinéte – (Sp: clarinete). Clarinet; a kind of wind musical instrument. Also, tingáb.

13. kudlón – A musical instrument made of bamboo.

14. kudyapî– A native musical instrument similar to Jew’s Harp. (Kp: subíng).

15. kulíntang – Xylophone; a musical instrument consisting of a graduated series of wooden

bars, usually sounded by striking with a beater. Also, silopón.

16. kurlón – A kind of stringed instrument similar to a guitar. The sounding board is

hemispherical. It has four or five strings.

17. kurlonsíto – (bp. kurlón). A kind of stringed instrument similar to the kurlon but smaller

in size. Usually it has only one or two strings.

18. kutsapî– A kind of musical instrument.

19. lantón – Nose-flute; a flute that is played by blowing from the nose

20. lantóy – Flute. A kind of wind musical instrument. (Kp: tarambóan).

21. líra– (Sp: lira). Lyre; a kind of stringed musical instrument. (Kp: álpa).

22. litgit– Fiddle. A kind of stringed musical instrument. Also, dabíl. (Kp: gitgít).

23. mandolína – (Sp: mandolina). Mandolin; a kind of stringed musical instrument.

24. organó – (Sp: organo). Musical organ; harmonium. (Kp: armónyon).

25. piyáno – (Sp: piano). Piano; a kind of string percussion musical instrument.

26. silín – An improvised musical instrument using the principle of a violin but only with one

string.

27. silindrón – (Sp: cilindron). Harmonica; mouth organ;

28. subíng – 1. Jew’s harp. (Kp: kudyapî). 2. Mouth-harp; a small carved bamboo slat with

vibrating membrane.

29. tarambóan – A kind of large native flute that is similar to a recorder. It is also blown from

the rear end. (Kp: tingáb)

30. trombón – (Sp: trombón). Trombone; a kind of wind musical instrument. (Kp: tulonggon).

31. trumpéta (Sp: trompeta). Trumpet; a kind of musical instrument. (Kp: turútot;

tulúnggon; budyóng).

32. tulúnggon – (b.p. túnggon; tunog). Musical instrument, especially wind instrument.

33. yúke – Ukulele; a small stringed musical instrument similar to a guitar with four strings.

Mga Mahuníhong Pulong

1. báag – Medley; musical composition made up of parts of different songs.

2. bánda – (Sp: banda). A musical band; a group of musicians.

3. bángdal – 1. To harmonize, as in a choir. (Kp: sambágay). 2. To interpret, as musical or

dramatic interpretation.

4. dúyog – Accompaniment, as when using a musical instrument. (Kp: abáy).

5. galugánding – Tempo; relative speed at which a musical composition is rendered.

6. halugánay – The good sound of bells or musical instruments. (Kp: nánoy).

7. hán-ay sa húni – Musical arrangement.

8. kinákil – To conduct a musical or singing group, as orchestra conductor.

9. kompársa (Sp: comparsa). A musical ensemble or small band using stringed

instruments. (Kp: rondálya).

10. larayán – Stave; a musical staff.

11. palubád – A musical refrain, especially that which changes pitches or beat; Coda.

12. pasundáyag sa sunánoy – Concert; a musical rendition. (Kp: konsiyerto).

13. piyaós – Yodel; to sing with frequent changes from the ordinary voice to falsetto and back

again. (Kp: lidúglidóg; uguy-úgoy).

14. sagnáy – Rotund; the sound of a musical instrument that is clear. (Kp: nánoy).

15. sagúbin nga talíndaw – Musicale; a private concert or recital, as in a home.

16. sarsuwéla – (Sp: zarzuela). Spanish operetta or musical comedy. In Bisayan usage it deals

with kings and their court. Also, linámbay.

17. sinulát nga húni – Score; musical score.

18. talíndaw – Recital; a musical performance by one person or several appearing as soloists.

19. taludtòd – Chord, as musical chord.

20. tángan – Opus; a literary or musical work.

21. tigkinákil – (6.p. kinakil). Conductor; the leader of a musical group who makes the group

perform in unison. (Kp: bastonero).

22. tingkúlay – Fanfare; flourish; a showy musical passage. (Kp: kiyaw-kiyaw).
