Tagb, CDO push importance of handwashing

United States Agency for International Development-Strengthening Urban Resilience for Growth with Equity (USAID-SURGE) Project picks out the cities of Tagbilaran and Cagayan de Oro (CDO) to advocate the importance of handwashing, especially in these times where there is a pandemic.

The Coca-Cola Foundation Philippines Incorporated (CCFPI) will fund the installation of handwashing stations in key strategic areas in the two (2) cities, while the partner non-governmental organizations (NGO), the Balay Mindanaw Foundation Incorporated and the Bohol Integrated Development Foundation respectively, will manage the funds, ensure the compliance of recipients, as well as the safety of the public and workers during the actual installation of the handwashing facilities.

The local government unit (LGU), on one hand, should designate a focal person who will be responsible in assisting the local counterpart of USAID’s SURGE program in the identification of sites, provision of distribution water lines, information and education campaigns, monitoring of the facilities, and the site’s regular inspection and maintenance.

Eight (8) handwashing sites in Tagbilaran were identified, and they are the Tagbilaran City Tourist Seaport; Causeway Fishport; Tagbilaran City Integrated Bus Terminal; Tagbilaran Central Public Market; Cogon Public Market; Manga Public Market; Plaza Rizal, and CPG Park. City Mayor John Geesnell Yap II and Cagayan De Oro City Mayor Oscar Moreno, with the partner NGOs led the virtual signing via Zoom.
