Bohol’s 2nd Malasakit Center launched

Bohol gets its second Malasakit Center now hosted at the Don Emilio del Valle Memorial Hospital (DEDVMH) in Ubay town.

The launch of the second Malasakit center happened on Oct. 23, 2020, a report obtained by The Bohol Tribune said.

The first Malasakit Center is located within the compound of the Gov. Celestino Gallares Memorial Hospital (GCGMH) in Tagbilaran City.

Sen. Christopher “Bong” Go was the guest of honor during the launch rites and he participated in the activity virtually.

Also giving a message virtually during the launch was the Presidential Assistant for the Visayas, Sec. Michael Dino.

Other dignitaries who attended the launch included Malasakit Center program director Angelina del Mundo and Dr. Nelson Elle, chief of hospital of DEDVMH.

The Ubay-based hospital’s center hosts four (4) government agencies housed in the center, itself. All four government agencies are ready to help indigent patients in their healthcare needs.

The agencies included in the Malasakit Center are the Philippine Health Insurance (Philhealth), Department of Health (DOH), Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO), and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).

The center located in the said Ubay-based hospital will cater to indigent patients from the second and the third districts of the province.

The Malasakit Center is created by virtue of Republic Act No.  11463 and this was strongly supported by Aumentado, Tutor and the First District Rep. Edgar Chatto.

The center is a one-stop shop of all government medical and financial assistance for all Filipinos, particularly the poor and indigent patients.

Furthermore, the center is designed to be convenient, free of charge, accessible to all persons and shall have a standard system of availment of assistance from the said government agencies that are housed in the Malasakit Center.
