Exploring the Innovations on Dentures

Dentures are a tried and tested method of tooth replacement. It is important to understand the latest innovations and options available for dental patients who need to get tooth replacement.

For generations, dentists recommend to patients to use partial dentures as a way to replace a group of teeth or to replace teeth scattered in various areas inside the mouth.

Patients have a variety of options as far as partial dentures, each coming with its own set of advantages and disadvantages.

Patients need to understand that partial dentures work by latching to remaining teeth with a portion with a color similar to the natural color of the gums. The fake teeth are designed to create an impression that there are no missing teeth.

On the other hand, full dentures are almost the same with partial dentures. Full dentures are designed to replace missing teeth with a portion that has gum-colored effect creating an impression that there are no teeth missing.

However, the main difference between partial and full dentures is the latter are designed to fully replace the set of teeth located in the upper jaw or the lower jaw or both.

People need to know what “overdentures” is all about. Overdentures are a new way to replace missing teeth.

Overdentures are known as newer alternative in teeth replacement, combining traditional technology involving dentures and the latest advances in tooth replacement technology, such as dental implants.

By implanting attachments in the lower jaw, the overdenture instantly gets secured with better retention, stability and comfort.

Traditional dentures have been known to have less adhesion due to some limitations especially in the lower jaw with the tongue muscle having the potential to dislodge the teeth replacement.

Overdentures also reduce bone loss due to tooth loss. This can also lead to preserve facial structural integrity.

When looking to get full dentures, patients should discuss the possibility of having overdentures. Overdentures are satisfying and long-lasting teeth replacement method.

Traditional full and partial denture options should be properly discussed by the dentist considering the extent of the patient’s teeth loss.
