Tangnan gets new Punong Brgy.

Barangay Tangnan in Panglao gets a new punong barangay, information from the Municipality of Panglao reveals on Friday, Oct. 23, 2020.

Basilides Balo, took his oath of office as the new punong barangay of the said village replacing the late Cirilo Gatase Jr.

Panglao mayor Leonila Montero administered the oath office to Balo who is the number one barangay councilor of Tangnan. The oath taking rites happened on Monday, Oct. 19, 2020.

The oath taking ceremony took place days after Gatase was laid to rest, the same report says.

Panglao LGU observes Breast Cancer Awareness Month

The Local Government Unit (LGU) of Panglao observes the Pink October Celebration or also known as the Breast Cancer Awareness Month, according to an information from the Municipality of Panglao obtained by The Bohol Tribune.

Panglao Cultural Center was the venue of the activity, which happened on October 14, 2020. Panglao Mayor Leonila Paredes Montero, Panglao delivered the welcome address who verbalized the importance of the celebration.

Moreover, Montero also discussed the need to be vigilant these days against dengue because the country is now in the rainy season when dengue cases are expected to rise.

Aside from observing Pink Month, a simple ceremonial turn over of the TEMEPHOS, a larvicidal agent against mosquito larvae, was also conducted during the said activity.

Me’Ann Alcordo Solomon, Past District Governor of Rotary International District 3860, delivered a lecture about Breast Cancer Awareness before a crowd of women’s organizations of Panglao through ZOOM application.

The speaker delivered her message to the audience virtually because she is unable to physically travel to Bohol due to strict travel restrictions being imposed by Cebu City government.

Dauis Mayor Marietta Sumaylo, also graced the occasion. She received several packs of TEMEPHOS intended for the town of Dauis from Mayor Montero during the simple turn-over ceremony.

Sec. Michael Dino, the Presidential Assistant to the Visayas, donated the TEMPEHOS, which Mayor Montero solicited from the former with the assistance of the officers and members of the Rotary Club of Panglao Island (RCPI).

The said activity concluded after Mayor Sumaylo; Kag. Amira Alia Montero-Caindec, Panglao Sangguniang Bayan Member; and Julita Cogo, M.D., President of RCPI, each gave their respective messages.

PIATF conducts meeting to discuss Covid matters

Members of the Panglao Inter-Agency Task Force (PIATF) convenes to discuss Coronavirus disease (Covid) related concerns of the town, the information from the Munucipality of Panglao said on Thursday, Oct. 22, 2020.

The meeting happened on October 13, 2020, at the Panglao Cultural Center with Panglao mayor Leonila P. Montero acting as the presiding officer, the same information added.

The discussion in the meeting was focused on the latest Executive Order 29, which shortens the curfew hours at the Municipality of Panglao. The task force also deliberated about the scheduled lockdown at all cemeteries in the town during All Souls’ Day on November 2, 2020.

Another agendum discussed in the meeting was about the setting of guidelines that will regulate the operations of quarantine facilities of private establishments.
