Panglao Mayor Leonila Montero categorically denies that she brought her grandson to Cebu as alleged by some sectors in relation to the Panglao’s chief executive’s Cebu trip.

The mayor made the revelation in a radio interview on Oct. 26, 2020 over What’s On In Panglao program hosted by Chandymar Batoy.

In the interview, Montero revealed that she originally planned the Cebu visit as a sort of vacation. For this reason, there was a plan to bring her grandson along in her trip. But the plan did not materialize as the trip to Cebu became an official business and no longer a vacation.

Her original plan to have a vacation in Cebu was scrapped as she needed to return immediately to Panglao because of the Philippine Travel Exchange (Phitex).

Montero and company visited Cebu on Sept. 14 and returned on the 15th, Montero said. The Phitex started on Sept. 22, 2020.

For this reason, Montero ditched plans to have a few days of vacation with her grandson.
She flatly denied the insinuation that she brought her grandson along in her Sept. 14, 2020 trip to Cebu as alleged by a member of the Bohol Inter Agency Task Force (BIATF).

During the BIATF meeting last Friday, Oct. 23, 2020, one of the members of the task force, Dr. Anthony Damalerio raised strong allegations that Montero brought a 5-year-old child in the Mayor’s trip to Cebu.

To ascertain if the grandson was brought to Cebu, Montero said people should take a look at the passengers’ manifest of the motor banca that the mayor and company rode in going to Cebu and back to Panglao.

Montero is being alleged as having violated protocols related to her and her company’s trip to Cebu.
Police provincial director Col. Joselito Clarito came up with a recommendation in his report to drop and close the case against Montero.
