Tagb’s City Accounting Office supports contactless transactions
The City Accounting Office (CAO) is fully supporting the contactless transaction system set up by the City Government as a means to reinforce the no-contact policy and health protocols implemented to prevent the spread of the virus causing the Coronavirus disease (Covid), according to a report by the City Media Bureau on Friday, Oct. 30, 2020.
The CAO displayed its document monitoring system dubbed as the Tracking Assistant Gateway or TAG.
City Accountant Eleanor Beniga said that the tracking system is making their tasks easier despite being impacted by the pandemic.
“I asked our receiving clerk regarding the number of inquiries on the transaction claims when the TAG system was installed. She told me that the face-to-face transactions decreased by 80%”, Beniga said.
The Tracking Assistant Gateway or TAG is a software application that enables all the offices in the City Hall to track the progress of their claims. There is no need to go to the CAO and discuss the status of the claims as all the details are already posted in the system.
The IT department who created the program installed TAG in all the offices in the City Hall. Likewise, the system is assigned to a focal person who is responsible to manage the application. The TAG system installed in a certain office cannot be accessed by personnel from other offices.
Moreover, Jinky Tecson from the City Planning and Development Office said that TAG is a big help to make their tasks easier.
“The document monitoring and management system inquiry or Tracking Assistant Gateway of the accounting office helped our office a lot. It is now easy to track the status of our payroll and other accounting transactions. When you check the system, you just need a keyword to search your transaction. The system will show where your paper is and who is the person working on it. You need not go or call the accounting office to know the status of your documents. It is also very timely, since this pandemic, we do not need to have face to face transactions. So, I was able to save time and be safe all at the same time”, Tecson said.
The CAO is thankful to the IT department in making the program possible.
“Congratulations to the Accounting Office for their document tracking system, the TAG or the Tracking Assistant Gateway. This is a huge help during this pandemic. It reinforces our campaign towards contactless transactions. I also thank the USAID SURGE’s Project with Ma’am Linda Paredes for the technical assistance. Despite the pandemic, we can go on with our transactions without compromising our health and safety”, Yap said.
