Panglao records 1st Covid case
The local government unit (LGU) of Panglao announces its first case of Coronavirus disease (Covid) positive patient who is tagged as an authorized person outside residence (APOR).
The said APOR arrived in the Municipality of Panglao on October 17, 2020, and was initially billeted at
Henann Regency Resort and Spa, a certified quarantine facility, in order for said APOR to comply with the 14-day quarantine requirement set by the Panglao Inter-Agency Task Force (P-IATF).
A swab test was conducted on October 22, 2020, which was the fifth day after the APOR’s arrival.
The APOR is an employee of a company based in Makati City, and is working for a construction firm handling some construction works at the Bohol-Panglao International Airport.
On October 24, 2020, the APOR was transferred to the Roman Empire Panglao Resort (REPR), another certified quarantine facility to complete the remaining days of the 14-day mandatory quarantine.
The transfer was due to some arrangements between the company he/she represents and the two (2) separate quarantine facilities he/she is availing himself/herself of.
It was reported that the APOR complained of abdominal pain on the evening of October 24, 2020 – his/her first day of stay at REPR.
A medical doctor from LGU-Panglao visited the APOR immediately that evening for a medical check-up.
The RT-PCR test result came a day after, subsequent to the abdominal pain that was reported. The test yielded a positive result.
The extraction team from the Rural Health Unit (RHU) of Panglao facilitated the transfer of the Covid positive patient from REPR to an undisclosed municipal provided isolation facility.
Four (4) other personnel from the RHU-Panglao, including the medical doctor, were also under quarantine for having interacted, as first generation contacts, with the confirmed positive case.
Contract tracing activity, as of press time continues.
This first case of Covid in Panglao is not a locally transmitted case.
Leonila P. Montero, the lady Mayor of the Municipality of Panglao, assured the public that her administration will do all things possible to contain the possible spread of the unwanted virus.
The tourism industry of the town, the main economic driver of Panglao and of the entire Province of Bohol, has been greatly affected since February this year.
The Mayor further encouraged all her constituents to continue to comply with the basic health protocols like proper wearing of face shields and masks, perform regular hand washing, and among others.
