About 16 persons including an incumbent barangay kagawad get arrested for engaging in an illegal cockfight locally known as “tokis”.
At the same time, the police allegedly seized an unlicensed firearm from the incumbent barangay kagawad who was in the vicinity of the purported illegal cockfight.
The police report received by The Bohol Tribune on Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2020 says the arrest happened on Sunday, Nov. 15, 2020 in barangay Candungao, San Isidro town.
Elements of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), Maritime Police, Provincial Mobile Force Company, and San Isidro town police conducted the raid on the alleged illegal cockfight, the report bares.
The arrested barangay kagawad is identified by the police as Manuel Orehuela, 58, of barangay Candungao, San Isidro town. The same report says the police seized a .45 caliber pistol with magazine with five (5) rounds of live ammunition.
Moreover, the same report reveals that the other suspects arrested in conjunction with the incident are:

- Victor Talaboc, 64, of Purok 6, Candungao, San Isidro, Bohol.
- Rey Picol, 29, of Purok 7, Ulbojan, Calape, Bohol.
- Alicio Mahimo, of Lukob, Calape, Bohol.
- Christopher Orehuela, 46, of Candungao, San Isidro, Bohol.
- Edgar Orillosa, 38, of Mandaog, Calape, Bohol.
- Virgilio Quibol, 48, of Lukob, Calape, Bohol.
- Jay Estrosas, 26, of Mandaog, Calape.
- Felix Vellurejo, 65, of Lukob, Calape, Bohol.
- Jerry Rulona, 36, of San Isidro, Calape Bohol.
- Roldan Truniado, 42, of Abucayan Sur, Calape, Bohol.
- Victor Iyana, 51, of Candungao, San Isidro, Bohol.
- Edwin Ora, 49, of Cahayag,Tubigon Bohol.
- Antonio Dumandan, of Lukob, Calape, Bohol.
- Epifanio Tumolin, 64,Purok 7, Candungao, San Isidro, Bohol.
Furthermore, the report reveals the police recovered two (2) live fighting cocks, three (3) dead fighting cocks, 11 pieces of gaff, and alleged bet money amounting to P2,870.
The suspects are facing possible charges of violation of the anti-illegal cockfighting law, the report adds.
Aside from charges of violation of the anti-illegal cockfighting law, the incumbent barangay kagawad is also facing additional charges of violation of Firearms and Ammunitions Law as he was allegedly unable to present a license to carry the firearm or any document showing lawful possession of the firearm to the police officers.
