26 Bohol businesses bag DTI’s Bagwis Award

About 26 Bohol-based enterprises bag the Department of Trade and Industry’s 2019
BAGWIS Seal of Excellence Award.

The DTI BAGWIS Seal of Excellence gives recognition to business establishments that
uphold the rights of consumers while practicing responsible business where consumers get
the best value for their money. 

The program also encourages the setting up of Consumer Welfare Desks (CWDs) or an
equivalent customer relations office inside the establishment that will provide information to
consumers and serve as a mechanism for the speedy resolution of consumer complaints.

Moreover, the program covers seven categories namely: (a) Category I – Supermarket /
Grocery Store, (b) Category II – Department Store, (c) Category III – Specialty Store, (d)
Category IV – Appliance Store, (e) Category V – Hardware Store, (f) Category VI –
Convenience Store & (g) Category VII – DTI – Accredited Service and Repair Shop.

For 2019, gold awardees with distinction are Abenson’s Island City Mall (ICM) for the
Appliance Center Category, Hyundai Tagbilaran and Bohol Machine Shop & Engineering
Works for the DTI-Accredited Service and Repair Shop Category. 

The silver awardees are Bohol Quality (BQ) Corporation under the categories Supermarket
and Department Store, BQ Builderware under the Hardware Category, and Toyota
Tagbilaran and JH Motors under the category DTI Accredited Service and Repair Shop
Category. 

Furthermore, Save ‘n Earn, Inc. in Poblacion II also received Silver Award under the
category of Specialty Store. Imperial Appliance Plaza and Wrenley’s Appliance Plaza Inc.,
likewise bag a Silver Award under the category of Appliance Center. 

Sixteen (16) establishments also received the Bronze Award under various categories. A
total of 58 establishments have been accredited by the DTI in Bohol as of date.

In her message during the awarding ceremony, DTI Bohol Provincial Director Maria
Soledad L. Balistoy said, “DTI shall continue to ensure that establishments holding Bagwis
Seal of Excellence continually comply with the requirements set under the program. We
also expect that more establishments will become Bagwis accredited in the coming months,
as we are aggressively promoting the program across the province.”

The selection of Bagwis awardees was based on the following criteria: compliance to fair
trade laws, customer relations, store management operations, socially committed and
responsible business sector and ISO 9001 compliance.
