Bohol mayors eye deployment of Covid marshals

Bohol mayors are eyeing on the deployment of Coronavirus disease (Covid) marshals as a measure to arrest the increase in active cases in the province.

The idea to deploy marshals came about during the emergency meeting among the Bohol mayors, doctors, and the officials of the provincial government on Monday, Nov. 30, 2020, according to the Bohol Inter Agency Task Force (BIATF) spokesman Dr. Cesar Tomas Lopez.

Lopez said on Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2020, that the mayors in Bohol agreed to impose stricter measures to arrest the spike in the number of Covid cases in the province.

The marshals will be used to monitor the people who may be violating the minimum health standards or the health or safety protocol.

The marshals will remind the people to observe the protocol or the minimum health standards.

Also discussed during the meeting is the possibility of imposing granular lockdowns involving households with confirmed Covid cases, as a means to prevent the further spread of the virus causing Covid.

As this developed, Lopez assured the public that even with the spike in the number of active Covid cases, the authorities are still on top of the situation.

Meanwhile, Lopez hinted that Gov. Arthur Yap will soon release some memoranda and executive orders as a measure to reinforce the efforts in preventing the further increase in the number of active Covid cases in Bohol.
