City looks for relocation area for Plaza Rizal vendors

Tagbilaran City Mayor John Geesnell Yap II reveals the city government is looking for a suitable relocation area for Plaza Rizal vendors to continue with their trade as the area has been closed down by the provincial government.

The mayor bared the plan in a radio interview on Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2020 over Open Forum hosted by Ardy Batoy and Dave Albarado.

In the interview, the mayor said that the city authorities are looking for a suitable area but no final decision has been reached as of Wednesday afternoon.

In a recorded statement on Monday, Nov. 30, 2020, Gov. Arthur Yap disclosed that Plaza Rizal will be temporarily closed per request of the city government.

As this developed, additional personnel of the Provincial Security Force have been deployed to enforce the closure order.

Moreover, the City Mayor said in the same radio interview that there is a need to close the area as there is a possibility for people, especially churchgoers, to congregate in the said area and with the possibility of violating social distancing rules.

Meanwhile, the mayor also revealed that 71 swab tests results that got released on Wednesday turned out to be negative. There are still other swab test results pending, fhe mayor added.
