Rep Chatto announces key district events
Congress Event. Cong. Edgar Chatto (second row, third from left) participates in Technical Working Group discussions regarding consolidated House Bill amending the Tourism Act of 2009 during the House Committee on Tourism virtual meeting. During the meeting, Chatto, who is vice committee chair of the said committee, discussed salient points which include establishment of health facilities in tourism destinations, creation of inter-agency task force on tourist assistance, as well as provisions for directional signage posts and other travel and information materials, toll-free telephone number, free internet services, tourist assistance desks, measures to prevent harassment and unlawful acts to tourists, mechanism for filing of complaints, measures to prevent use of drugs in tourism establishments. International Event. Cong. Edgar Chatto (second row, third from left) delivers a message in celebration of the 13th Annual Global Warming And Climate Change Consciousness Week. In a message during the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Partner Cities Development Initiatives (CDI) for Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation video conference, Chatto stressed the importance of the involvement of local communities including non-government Organizations, civil society organizations, and the private sector to help in the mitigation of climate change impact. He reveals efforts at the national level to raise the alarm so that climate emergency measures are adopted at all levels of governance. The USAID through the Strengthening Urban Resilience for Growth with Equity (SURGE) Project in partnership with the Climate Change Commission (CCC) organized the online video conference, which showcased the CDI cities’ good practices on Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation (CCAM) through Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Reduction. The conference featured ongoing efforts and plans for climate change adaptation and mitigation by General Santos City , Legazpi City, Zamboanga City, and Bohol’s own Tagbilaran City.
