About 78 confirmed tourists are slated to visit Bohol as frequent individual tourists (FIT) as Bohol opens doors to more tourists starting today, Dec. 15, 2020.

In a radio interview on Dec. 15, 2020 over dyTR’s Open Forum, Joanne Pinat of the Bohol Tourism Office (BTO) bared that the 78 confirmed guests are slated to arrive between now and Dec. 19, 2020.

She added that there are 168 visitors who signified their intent to visit Bohol and they are slated to arrive here before the end of the month.

Today is the first day of the opening of Bohol to FIT and leisure travelers after opening Bohol tourism to visitors who are joining meetings, incentives, conventions, and exhibitions (MICE) events.

Moreover, the number of registered visitors is steadily increasing real time as the tourists are obligated to register via the tourist portal of the provincial government.

During the meeting, Pinat explained that every protocol imposed on arriving tourists meant to protect the community against potential spread of the virus.

All tourists arriving to visit here are required to submit a negative polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test taken 72 hours prior to arrival here in the province.

They are not allowed to deviate from approved itinerary and they are limited to their travel bubble, she said.

She further explained that pre-determined tourism workers are the ones who are allowed to have limited interaction with the guests.

About 70% of Bohol tourism’s economy is dependent on tourism, according to Gov. Arthur Yap.
