Tropical depression (TD) Vicky brings heavy rains as it passed through Bohol Sea leading to pre-emptive evacuations in several in Candijay town.
As of yesterday afternoon, Dec. 19, 2020,, Bohol is no longer under Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal no. 1 as all seacraft trips resumed, Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRMMO) chief Dr. Anthony Damalerio in a telephone interview with The Bohol Tribune.
The heavy rains caused the hoisting of the orange warning over Bohol on Friday afternoon, Dec. 18, 2020, by the National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (NDRRMC).
The province experienced rains all day on Friday as the storm approached the province.
The NDRRMC warned on Friday that flooding in low lying areas and landslides in mountainous places may happen due to heavy rainfall brought about by the TD.
Early Saturday morning, the TD passed through Bohol sea towards Palawan. The storm is expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) by Sunday, Dec. 20, 2020.
According to Damalerio there were no report of any damage or casualty as the TD passed through Bohol Sea.
However, there were pre-emptive evacuations initiated in various in Candijay town.
One (1) family in barangay San Isidro, eight (8) families in barangay Panadtaran, six (6) families from barangay Cambane were evacuated as precaution, according to the PDRRMO chief.
Moreover, the families have returned to their respective homes, Damalerio said.
As of Friday, Bohol was placed under TCWS No. 1 prompting the Philippine Coast Guard in Central Visayas to temporarily suspend seacraft trips from Cebu to areas under signal no. 1.
