A Parañaque police officer is facing double murder charges for allegedly shooting his two (2) unarmed neighbors in Panique town in Tarlac province.

A sketchy police report indicated that the suspect, Sr. Master Sargeant Jonel Nuezca escaped after shooting the victims Sonia Gregorio, 52 and Frank Anthony Gregorio, 25, in purok 2, barangay Cabayaoasan, Panique town in Tarlac province on Sunday afternoon, Dec. 20, 2020.

After an hour the suspect surrendered to authorities and also turned over his service .9mm. pistol.

Police regional dirctor 3 Brig. Gen. Val de Leon said the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) is committed to conduct a swift and impartial probe. The regional director added that he is checking the status of homicide charges, one in 2019 and the other May 2020, filed against the suspect.

It has been reported that the cop and the family of the victims are involved in a property right-of-way dispute.

However the shooting incident stems from the incident where the Gregorios allegedly fired a PVC cannon or locally known as boga.

The shooting incident was captured on camera and the video is now viral on social media, according to reports.

As this developed, politicians, netizens and public personalities start to are seeking justice for the Gregorios and called to end the perceived police brutality in the country.

For his part Interior and Local Government Sec. Eduardo Año said the incident is an isolated one and should not be used to characterize the attitude of the entire Philippine National Police organization.
