Pope Francis reappoints Puerto Princesa bishop Socrates Mesiona as one of the members of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples.
The congregation’s head Luis Antonio Cardinal Tagle relayed the reappointment to the Tagbilaran-born, Sevilla-native, Mesiona in a letter, according to a report by the CBCP News.
Mesiona will serve for five (5) years, the same report said.
“I am humbled and honored to be appointed for a second term as a member of the Congregation,” Mesiona was quoted by the CBCP news.
Also known as Propaganda Fide, the office is responsible for the Church’s missionary works and related activities.
One of the largest curial departments, it is also responsible for the episcopal nominations in mission lands.
