Bohol province, like majority of the places in the country, remains under modified general community quarantine (MGCQ) as announced by Malacañang on Thursday, Dec. 30, 2020.
Bohol Gov. Arthur Yap earlier placed the province under MGCQ per Executive Order (EO) No. 52 issued on Nov. 13, 2020.
President Duterte said 10 areas in the country are placed under general community quarantine (GCQ).
The areas which remain under GCQ are Metro Manila, and the provinces of Batangas, Isabela, Lanao del Sur, and the cities of Santiago, Iloilo, Tacloban, Iligan and Davao.
The president said that the quarantine status may change and subject to appeals by the respective local government unit (LGU).
After announcing the new quarantine classifications, the President urged Filipinos to follow the minimum health standards such as physical distancing wearing of face masks, face shields, washing of hands, and staying at home when there are no important reasons to go outside.
The new classifications have come at the heels of news regarding the emergence of a new strain of the Coronavirus disease (Covid).
The SARS-CoV-2 is the virus that causes Covid.
The government, in a knee-jerk reaction banned flights from the United Kingdom and several other countries. Such ban is supposed to last until Dec. 31, 2020 but has been extended to two (2) weeks more.
