Man allegedly rapes 73-year-old woman in Loay, victim dies

A 39-year-old man from Loay is reportedly arrested by police after a hot pursuit operation as the former allegedly raped a 73-year-old woman in Loay town, who later on died, belated reports say.

The reports add that the incident happened on Friday, Jan. 1, 2021, in barangay Botoc Oriental, Loay town.

The suspect is identified as a certain Melchor Gonzales, 39, of barangay Botoc Oriental, Loay.

He was arrested in a hot pursuit operation half an hour after the incident was reported to the police, reports bare.

Witnesses positively identified the suspect as the one who allegedly raped the old woman. The victim was reportedly bedridden.

Reports reveal that after the rape incident the woman died. The police believe the death of the old woman was due to complications related to the alleged rape incident.

According to the police report, the suspect is currently detained at the Loay police station. The police added that charges of rape with homicide are filed against the suspect.
