Aris denies rumors he is running for governor

Second district representative Erico Aristotle Aumentado denies rumors that he is running for governor of Bohol in 2022.

The solon made the statement that he has no plans to run for the highest elective position in the province during a radio interview over Newsmakers ug Uban Pa on Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2020 hosted by the mother and son tandem of Ardy and Chandymar Batoy.

Aumentado said that the talk of him running surfaced after some media outlets conducted a survey pitting him against incumbent Gov. Arthur Yap as the probable contenders for the gubernatorial race in 2022.

The solon’s name was floated after Yap expressed his desire to run for re-election in the next elections happening about 17 months from now.

Political observers are inclined to believe that Aumentado may run for governor as he is on his third and final term as congressman of the second district. His father and namesake, was a former governor of Bohol.

In the same interview, Aumentado said he is currently busy working on his priority projects for the second district, which includes the development of the Ubay airport into a flying school venue and an alternative aviation gateway into Bohol.

Moreover, he hailed the leadership of House speaker Lord Allan Velasco for being fair to all members of the House of Representatives. He thanked Velasco for the latter’s support to the former’s projects in the second district.
