Second district Rep. Erico Aristotle Aumentado backs the drive of Gov. Arthur Yap to strengthen the agriculture industry in the province, a press release from the solon’s office reveals.
This comes, as tourism, one of the main economic drivers of Bohol, is severely impacted by the pandemic.
Aumentado said that while Yap already opened the tourism industry here to free, independent travelers (FIT), the number of visitors remains far from ideal.
The solon said that he intends to call Agriculture Sec. William Dar and find out if the department can extend livelihood programs to support the agriculture workers in Bohol.
Apparently, agriculture is among the industries less susceptible to the economic impact brought by the pandemic, Aumentado says in a release from his office.
The solon added that Bohol farmers need to get more support from the Department of Agriculture and boost the province’s position as the Rice Granary of Central Visayas.
Meanwhile, the governor has been pulling the stops to improve the agricultural output of Bohol farmers, based on the year-end report coming from the Provincial Government of Bohol.
