Bohol’s active cases surge to 18

Bohol records eight (8) new active Coronavirus disease (Covid) cases, which pegs the total active here at 18.

The information was released by Dr. Tomas Cesar Lopez, spokesman of the Bohol Inter Agency Task Force (BIATF) on Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2021.

However, only one case out of the 8 new cases is touted to be a local transmission case, Lopez added.

The only local transmission case reported on Wednesday is a resident of Carmen, the spokesman reported.

He further said that the six (6) new active cases are authorized persons outside residence (APOR) and the other active case is a locally stranded individual (LSI) from Danao.

Five (5) out of 6 the newly-infected APOR are located in Tagbilaran. The sixth Covid-infected APOR is currently isolated in Sagbayan town.

Moreover, he assured the public that the newly-infected APOR and LSI are isolated since they arrived in the province and pose no danger to local residents.

Contact tracing activities have been conducted in relation to the lone new local transmission case reported on Wednesday, he continued.

He stated that all 8 new Covid patients are either stable or asymptomatic.
