Yap slams destructive politics here

Gov. Arthur Yap wants to put an end to what he calls as “destructive politics” in Bohol as he has been a target of negative criticisms posted on social media.

The governor aired his gripe during his short speech on Friday, Jan. 22, 2021 during the groundbreaking ceremony of the future Provincial Government Employees’ Village in Malayo Sur, Cortes.

Yap revealed that he is a subject of a negative item posted on Facebook that he owns a mansion in Baclayon town.

He said there is a need to stop destructive politics.

“I think we have to put a stop to this. This is destructive politics in Bohol. Kung kanunay natong pasagdan na bisan kinsa nga daoton ta. I think that is not correct,” the governor uttered in the mini-press conference.

While the governor acknowledges the freedom of the press, he said that there are also rights that need to be respected and seek protection against libelous remarks.

The governor denied that he owns a mansion in Baclayon and said that his home is located in Sawang, Loboc town as he has a small apartment in Tagbilaran.

“Other than that, my home is the Provincial Capitol, that is my home,” the governor emphasized.

It can remembered that Vice Gov. Rene Relampagos was also a victim of negative news. There were rumors that surfaced back in 2001 saying that then Gov. Relampagos has a mansion in Baclayon town.

Relampagos lost his bid for a third term back in 2001.

“Vice Gov. [Relampagos] gusto ko na ipahibaw nimu nga hindi ka nag-iisa sa mga pandaot ba. Karon, this morning [Friday],  gidaot na pod ko nga naa koy mansion sa Baclayon, pareho na pud ta,” the governor revealed.

The governor is referring to a post of social media made by a certain Willy Ramasola on Jan. 21, 2021. The post remains posted on Ramasola’s Facebook timeline as of press time yesterday, Jan. 23, 2021.

Ramasola alleges that the governor owns a mansion in Baclayon town.

“Finally pwede nang tawaging Boholano kasi may bagong mansion na sa Baclayon, Bohol,” Ramasola said in a caption where he also posted purportedly the photograph of the mansion owned by the governor.
