Pamugas apologizes for Ubi Festival TWG oversight

Assistant Provincial Agriculturist Dr. Larry Pamugas apologizes for the oversight of the Technical Working Group (TWG) organizing the Ubi Festival that led to entry restrictions imposed on senior citizens and minors.

These entry restrictions are imposed on senior citizens aged 65 years old and older and minors aged 15 years old and below.

He aired his apology in a radio interview aired over Open Forum on Thursday, Jan. 28, 2021, hosted by Ardy Araneta-Batoy and Dave Albarado.

This comes as some netizens criticized the organizers of the Ubi Festival especially when some senior citizens and some minors were denied entry into the festival‘s venue on Monday, Jan. 25, 2021. This is the day when these groups of people are not allowed to go out of their homes on that day.

Pamugas admitted that there was a lapse committed by the TWG for overlooking the curfew imposed on senior citizens aged 65 years and over and minors aged 15 years old or younger.

As this developed, all senior citizens, aged 65 years old or over, are not allowed to enter into Ubi Festival’s venue except on Wednesday, Thursday, and Sunday.

Likewise, minors, aged 15 years old and below, are also not allowed to enter the venue except on Friday, Saturday and Sunday

According to EO 52-A of Gov. Arthur Yap, senior citizens aged 65 years old and older are allowed to leave their homes only on the said dates from 6 am to 6 pm. The same executive order stipulates minors aged 15 years old and younger, may leave their homes only on the mentioned days from 6 am to 6 pm.
