Balilihan resident celebrates 100th birthday
Balilihan Mayor Pureza Chatto is shown spending time with a Balilihan resident celebrating his 100th birthday recently.
Chatto, in a post, revealed that Julian Baliong of barangay Hanopol Norte celebrated his 100th birthday on Jan. 21, 2021.
Baliong is the fourth recorded resident of Balilihan to have reached the milestone that makes him a centenarian, the mayor said.
According to the centenarian’s eldest son, his father who just celebrated his 100th birth anniversary, is quite active and “mamungay pa gani”, the son said. This information was relayed to The Bohol Tribune by Chatto.
The mayor also revealed in her post that the local government unit of Balilihan turned over to Lolo Juan some financial assistance aside from his eligibility to receive P100,000 cash assistance from the national government as mandated by Republic Act 10868.

Mayor Chatto inspects Balilihan’s public market
Balilihan mayor Pureza Chatto pays a visit to the town’s public market to conduct random inspection focusing on the market’s condition and to find out if people are following the health and safety protocols.
This information was relayed to The Bohol Tribune by LGU of Balilihan. The mayor conducted the inspection on Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2021 together with the following: Market Administrator and Treasurer, Jigs Parocha; Chief of Police, Lt. Jefrin Eulogio; and Sangguniang Bayan Committee on Trade and Industry chairperson, Kag. Bernie Lansang.
Chatto toured the market to find out if there are problems in the said place that need to be fixed.
Moreover, she wanted to observe if people are following the health and safety protocols.
In a statement, the mayor urged the people to help maintain the market’s cleanliness. She said that the market’s condition is generally clean and relatively orderly.
She added that the meat and fish sections of the market need to be rehabilitated.
