Cong. Kristine Alexie B. Tutor

Tutor calls for suspension of child car seat law implementation
Third district Rep. Kristine Alexie Tutor calls on the Department of Transportation (DOTr) to suspend the full implementation of the Child Safety in Motor Vehicles Act, for the meantime.
She first broke the news story during an exclusive radio interview over NEWSMAKERS program hosted by Ardy Araneta-Batoy and Dave Albarado on Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2021.
The solon filed House Resolution 1533 urging the DOTr and the Land Transportation Office (LTO) to suspend the implementation of the new law. To recall, the implementing rules and regulations (IRR) of this law were published last month.
This is the first time the congresswoman pushed for the suspension of the law’s implementation considering the health crisis and pending the implementation of agencies of the information drive about the law.
Moreover, she is raising the concern in the halls of Congress to help families who may have other concerns and pressing spending priorities due to the current health crisis.
The solon added that getting car seats is not a spending priority among families affected by the pandemic.
The law, among others, require private vehicle owners to have car seats for children aged 12 years old or below and 4’11” or shorter.
The law which was passed in February, 2019 aims to prevent child deaths in accidents.
