An infant from the town of Maribojoc died due to complications arising from the infection caused by the Coronavirus disease (Covid).

This was bared by Dr. Cesar Tomas Lopez, spokesperson of the Bohol Inter Agency Task Force (BIATF) in a virtual presser on Thursday, Feb. 11, 2021.

The infant was the 20th Covid-related fatality in Bohol, according to Lopez.

It was reported that the baby experienced “respiratory distress” and died three days after being born prematurely in a private Tagbilaran hospital.

The reports further added that the baby was subjected to a swab test as part of the hospital’s protocol when surgery is involved.

In a later radio interview over the Provincial Government-produced program Tingog sa mga Bol-anon on Friday, Feb. 12, 2021, Lopez said the health authorities are puzzled as to where the baby caught the virus. The parents of the infant are negative for Covid.

The Maribojoc baby was the youngest Covid-related fatality in Bohol.

Last December 2020, a six-month-old baby from Sagbayan died in a Carmen hospital due to dehydration as the said baby was suffering from diarrhea.
