P100K cash gift to centenarians from Yap administration

Boholano centenarians will receive P100,000 cash gift each from the provincial administration of Gov. Arthur Yap and Vice Gov. Rene Relampagos.

Yap on Monday, Feb. 8, 2021, signed Executive Order No. 10, Series of 2021, providing for the guidelines implementing the Bohol Centenarian Ordinance.

The centenarians, people who reached the age 100 years old, “have helped shape the development and destiny of our province,” the governor said.

Yap considered them as “links of society” and “worthy of our honor and recognition.”

The identification of a beneficiary will be based on the local government unit masterlist or database such as records of the Office of the Senior Citizen Affairs (OSCA), social pension, and other similar lists.

The OSCA head and city or municipal social welfare office are directed to submit the masterlist to the Office of the Provincial Social Welfare and Development (OPSWD) at the start of every year.

The centenarian will also receive a felicitation in a form of a resolution passed by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP). The resolution will be written in a provincial plaque of recognition.

If the centenarian dies before the cash gift is awarded, the cash gift will be awarded to his/her surviving spouse or heirs in the manner provided for under the law of succession.

If the centenarian is incapacitated or bedridden due to sickness or old age, the OPSWD and Provincial Treasurer’s Office will deliver directly the award and recognition to the recipient.

The ordinance provides that Boholano centenarians who are residing in the province for at least five (5) years at the time they reach the age of 100 years old are eligible to receive the cash gift.

The P100,000 cash gift is on top of the incentive a centenarian receives from the national government under Republic Act 10868 or the Centenarian Act of 2016, Yap said.
