Sumaylo believes Tañola used Panglao LOA, and…

Dauis Mayor Marietta Sumaylo believes that the letter of acceptance (LOA) issued by the local government unit (LGU) of Panglao was the one used by ex-Dauis police chief Lt. Bonifacio Tañola so he can return to Bohol from his Cebu trip.

And it is just awkward that the ex-police chief wanted to be quarantined in Panglao and worse allegedly violated protocols.

The Dauis mayor thinks that the Panglao LOA issued to Tañola for Jan. 27 can still be used on Jan. 29, the date when the latter arrived from his Cebu trip.

Sumaylo made the statement in a telephone interview with The Bohol Tribune yesterday, Feb. 13, 2021.

“Ang akong tan-aw, gigamit gihapon nija [Tañola] kadtong letter of acceptance [of Panglao] magamit ra gud to gihapon ug madelayed ka,” Sumaylo said.

However, she is not sure if Tañola went to Panglao after arriving in Bohol as only the latter can tell the real score.

Tañola is currently in isolation after testing positive for Coronavirus disease (Covid).

In the same interview, Sumaylo said that her local government unit (LGU) did not issue any LOA to Tañola prior or even after the latter’s return to Bohol from Cebu.

Tañola went to Cebu to attend some schooling sessions there, according to Sumaylo.

“Wala gyud intawon [mi issue ug LOA]. Nganong mamakak man gud pud mi? Unsa pod makuha namo kun mamakak mi? Ug kami pa ang nihatag [ug LOA] kami ang mukuha nija [sa pantalan],” Sumaylo told The Bohol Tribune.

If Dauis’ extraction team did not fetch Tañola, who did?

Reports say Tañola was fetched by two persons. using a vehicle.

The question now is: who owns the vehicle that fetched Tañola from the Tubigon port?

Mayor Leonila Montero of Panglao says Tañola was fetched by a Dauis police car.

TAÑOLA PREFERS PANGLAO

The Dauis mayor said that ever since Tañola prefers to undergo quarantine in Panglao.

“Sukad pa kuno sauna adto sija magpa-accept sa Panglao o mag pa kwan [accept],” Sumaylo said.

The mayor said that there is nothing wrong with Panglao issuing an LOA to Tañola.

It is just, she said, that Tañola was stationed in Dauis and he violated allegedly the protocol.

“Ang nakabati lang kay taga Dauis sya ug nakalapas [ug protocol],” she said in the interview.

The issue on Tañola’s LOA surfaced after it was revealed that Panglao LGU issued the LOA to Tañola.

Tañola is being accused of violating quarantine protocol, which led to the alleged spread of the virus he caught in Cebu and infecting nine (9) first generation and 16 second generation contacts, or a total of 25 persons in Dauis according to Provincial Administrator Kathyrin Pioquinto in a radio interview on Thursday, Feb. 11, 2021, over Newsmakers ug Uban Pa, hosted by Ardy Araneta-Batoy and Gloria Leodivica Araneta.

In a follow-up interview yesterday, Pioquinto said Bohol police director Col. Joselito Clarito has yet to submit a report regarding the incident involving Tañola. The delay is due to unsigned affidavits as the signatories are still in isolation.

As the events unfold, several questions are being asked by the public.

First, why Tañola was allowed to visit his police station immediately upon his arrival from the pier? Who are the ones supposedly given the task to monitor the incoming APOR?

Second, had Tañola turned out to be negative for Covid, will the public discover that he had no LOA? Will this situation be divulged to the people, just the same?

Thirdly, when was the actual time and date when authorities learned that Tañola arrived in Dauis and didn’t go to the quarantine facility? Was he immediately reported for this lapse in protocol?

Fourthly, when was the actual time and date when authorities learned that Tanola tested positive for Covid? Did such authorities announce this to the public for the latter’s protection?

Lastly, did Tañola attend a fiesta party shortly after arriving in Bohol?

As these questions remained unanswered, the people not just in Dauis, but in the entire province, are still waiting for the official findings of the investigation of the Cafe Racer incident.

Despite the clamor of some media practitioners, Sumaylo denied the request for them to attend as observers, the investigation of the Cafe Racer incident on Monday, February 8, 2021 conducted by the Municipal Inter Agency Task Force (MIATF) of Dauis investigation at the Town Hall about the Cafe Racer incident.

Sumaylo is the chairperson of the MIATF.The media people, including The Bohol Tribune’s Dave Albarado, were only called by Sumaylo to observe the ocular inspection by the MIATF at Cafe Racer, which took place after the investigation.
