Tagbilaran Media Bureau reports city’s information of events

18 couples exchange “I do’s” in Tagb’s mass wedding activity
Eighteen (18) couples exchange “I do’s” during a mass wedding activity backed by the local government of Tagbilaran at the Saulog Gymnasium.
The City Media Bureau reports that the mass wedding dubbed as “Kasalan sa Tagbilaran” was done on Feb. 14, 2021, which coincidentally was Valentine’s Day.
City Mayor John Geesnell Yap II was the solemnizing officer of the mass wedding, the report adds.
Yap was assisted by the Local Civil Registry Office Head Virgilia Ancog during the event. The mass wedding initiative is pursuant to Proclamation 682, which declares the month of February of every year as Civil Registration Month. Each couple was provided with a wedding cake, wine, bouquet, corsage and a wedding token. 
After the wedding ceremony,  each newly-wed couple got a wedding feast, courtesy of the city government, which is good for six (6) guests.

The Bohol Association of Hair and Make up Artists and Stylists (BAHAMAS) rendered free hair and make-up services to all the brides.
Moreover, Yap extended his gratitude to the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Armand Pergamino his support to the activity.
Tagbilaran City’s First Lady Jane Yap who stood as the principal sponsor for the newlyweds, gave each couple 50 kilos of rice, rice cooker, and balloon with chocolates, among others. 
Each guest of the newly-wed couples also received food packs.

Tagbilaran LGU launches Kinubkuban Reef as new marine reserve
The local government unit (LGU) of Tagbilaran launches Kinubkuban Reef located at barangay Taloto as the newest marine reserve in the city, a report from the City Media Bureau says.
The launch was led by the City Agrivet Office (CAVO) under Dr. Genette Egos on Feb. 18, 2021, the same report adds.
City Mayor John Geesnell Yap II and partner stakeholders also attended the launch of the marine sanctuary at the City Hall Atrium.
It was learned that the Fish Visayas Project of the Afos Foundation and the Bohol Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) donated materials to denote the demarcation of the reef. 
During the launch, Yap welcomed the guests and stressed the importance of the project. The local chief executive pointed out that the initiative is crucial in the protection of the environment. The marine protected area can also provide the much-needed economic activity for the fishermen in the area. 
During the said activity, BCCI president Reginald Ong delivered the solidarity message, while Argeo Melisimo, the executive director of BCCI, gave updates on behalf of the Afos Foundation. 
Moreover, City Administrator Cathelyn Torremocha, City Councilor Dulce Chatto Glovasa, and Board Member Ricky Masamayor also delivered their messages of support to the project. City Councilors Augustinus Gonzaga, Jonas Cacho, and Tim Butalid also attended the said event. 
Moreover, an ordinance sponsored by Glovasa declared ‘Kinubkuban Reef’ as a marine sanctuary. The ordinance clearly outlined the rules and regulations which would govern the management and operations within the reef. With the ordinance in place, the reef will be protected and conserved, along with the sustainability of its aquatic resources. A management council will oversee the long-term plan for this marine sanctuary. 
The City Agrivet Office, the Philippine National Police, the Philippine Coast Guard, the law enforcement officers of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources and the barangay officials of barangay Taloto are all authorized to enforce the ordinance.
