Tutor attends OECD virtual GPN confab
Third district Rep. Kristine Alexie Tutor attends the virtual Organization for the Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) Global Parliamentary Network (GPN) representing the Philippines particularly the Committee on Health of the House of Representatives, a report from the solon’s office said.
The solon attended the meeting that took place on Feb. 10, 2021, where she spoke about the challenges of the country in terms of finding solutions to end the pandemic, the same report adds.
The solon, in her address in the virtual conference, talked about the period of uncertainty and unrest caused by the Coronavirus disease (Covid) pandemic and the strategies the country is implementing to solve the health challenge.
“The Philippines, a low to middle income country has its health system put to the test. Thus, we are compelled to revisit our health system in order to strengthen public health response & overall preparedness,” she told the delegates.
Moreover, Tutor touched on the country’s plan to immunize 50 to 70 million Filipinos depending on the sustainability of the supply.
“We acknowledge the need to strengthen the vaccine confidence of every Filipino due to the dwindling trust of our people in vaccines. It is essential to ensure the safety of immunization program & to carefully address possible adverse reactions,” the solon quipped.
The solon pointed out the need to ensure the supply through National Development and Vaccination Plan and also ensure the sufficient demand for the vaccines.
“The government is laying down mechanisms to monitor & manage possible adverse reactions & is also set to establish an oversight mechanism with the help of Vaccination Operation Centers,” she explained.
She capped her speech by saying: “Therefore a comprehensive & extensive organization structure is critical in the planning & execution of Covid-19 vaccine plans & policies; & essential for establishing a robust system of leadership, accountable & transparent decision making structure & process to protect national interests.”
