The Sangguniang Panglungsod (SP) urges the Bohol Inter Agency Task Force (BIATF) led by Gov. Arthur Yap to allow members of a family to take the ride in a single tricycle.

This was disclosed by Kag. Adam Jala, in a radio interview over NEWSMAKERS program on Friday, Feb. 19, 2021, hosted by Ardy Araneta-Batoy and Dave Albarado.

Jala said, the city council, in its regular session on Friday passed a resolution asking Yap to direct the BIATF to allow two persons from the same family and living in the same household to ride a single tricycle’s cab.

Since May of 2020, when Bohol was at that time under General Community Quarantine (GCQ), the BIATF has been limiting tricycle occupancy to only l one passenger at a time as part of measures to prevent the spread of the virus causing the Coronavirus disease (Covid).

Since July, 2020, Bohol has been under the modified GCQ, which is the most relaxed level of community quarantine.

Previous to Friday’s session, Councilor Eliezer “Ondoy“ Borja, revealed in a separate radio interview over Open Forum on Feb. 16, 2021, that it is impractical to continue disallowing persons belonging to the same family to ride a single tricycle’s cab.

Borja, authored the resolution, which urges the BIATF rules on tricycle occupancy.

Borja stated in his resolution that tricycle operators in Tagbilaran asked the help of the city council to relax the tricycle capacity restrictions.

He said the restrictions led to a huge reduction in the tricycle operators’ income.
