Man shot dead while sleeping inside Talibon home

A 51-year-old man gets shot and dies while sleeping inside his home in Calituban Island in Talibon town, reports from Camp Dagohoy says.

The incident reportedly took place on Tuesday evening, Feb. 23, 2021 but was reported to the authorities only on Feb. 24, 2021, the same reports add.

The report identified the victim as a certain Framel Cabrera, 50, of barangay Calituban, Talibon town.

According to the police the victim sustained a gunshot wound on the head, which may have led to his instantaneous death.

Based on the initial investigation of the authorities, the police received a report about the discovery of a dead body and the responding police officers found the dead body lying on the floor of the second level of the victim’s house.

Furthermore, it was learned by the police that the victim was sleeping beside his 10-year-old grandson. The grandson reportedly did not hear a gunshot but was awakened when his grandfather‘s arm hit him. The grandson thought his grandfather was only having a bad dream and transferred to his parents’ house which is nearby, without knowing that his grandfather had been shot.

The dead body was discovered the following morning by the victim’s adult daughter.

Police said that based on the trajectory of the bullet the perpetrator of the murder positioned himself in a pumpboat placed on the terrace of the victim’s house.  

Moreover, the police are looking at various motives, which include personal grudge, behind the murder.
