Boy and her aunt die after tree falls on kitchen in San Isidro town

A six-year-old boy and his aunt die after a coconut tree fell on their makeshift kitchen at their house in barangay Poblacion, San Isidro town, according to San Isidro police.

The incident happened on Saturday, Feb. 27, 2021, according to a police report from Camp Dagohoy.

Staff Sgt. Jonas Rosales told The Bohol Tribune on Monday, March 1, 2021 that the boy was rushed to Catigbian District Hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

On the other hand, the aunt, identified as Marivel Ybañez was brought to a medical facility in Tagbilaran City but eventually expired. Rosales said the police confirmed the death of Ybañez only on Monday.

Reports say that Ybañez was with the child as the former was preparing food food for lunch in the makeshift kitchen when a coconut tree planted nearby fell on the kitchen, and in turn toppled the structure and pinned down Ybañez and the child.
