585 Tagb PWDs receive financial assistance from Sen. Go

Sen. Christopher “Bong” Go through the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) provides financial assistance to 585 Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) in Tagbilaran, according to a report by the City Media Bureau.

Aside from the financial assistance, the PWD beneficiaries were treated to a free lunch and were given grocery packs, face shields and face masks.

City Mayor John Geesnell Yap II thanked Sen. Go for his generosity.

“The assistance came at a better time with the pandemic still hanging in our midst. Our PWDs definitely need all the help they can get”, Yap said.

DSWD Assistant Secretary Jade Jamolod also raffled off bicycles, tablets, and shoes.

Moreover, City Social Welfare and Development (CSWD) Officer Cirena Sia also handed out the

P3,000 cash assistance from the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) fund.

Tagbilaran City’s PWDs gained a soft spot in Go’s heart as the latter always extends a hand to the City’s PWDs.

This is the second time Go distributed financial assistance to PWDs in Tagbilaran. Last year, via a video call, Go also gave some financial assistance and raffled off prizes to the city’s PWDs.

Mayor Yap, who has been in the forefront of championing the cause of the PWDs, aims to empower the city’s PWDs various livelihood trainings.

The mayor has also allocated P 300,000 for Special Education (SPED) projects under the Special Education Fund (SEF) in Tagbilaran City Schools.

The City Government also provided commercial space at the Integrated Bus Terminal to the visually-impaired masseurs of Tagbilaran City.

Moreover, massage training to 50 PWDs was also conducted under the BuB (Bottom-up Budgeting) initiative of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).
