BFAR provides aid to Bohol fishermen for tilapia production

The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources in Central Visayas (BFAR-7) provides assistance to a fisherfolks in Bohol in order to improve their tilapia production.

Reports said that the BFAR-7 extended its assistance to the Bongbong Tree Planters Association (BTPA) of Ubay by providing the group

one unit of tilapia floating cage and 10,000 tilapia fingerlings under the Special Area for Agricultural Development (SAAD) program.

The BFAR assistance is part of the Small Water Impounding Project (SWIP) turned over to the said group.

A report bared that Candido Samijon, head of the Bohol Provincial Fishery Office, said the agency is giving 10,000 tilapia fingerlings to the association and construction materials for the building of the group’s second tilapia floating cage.

The new floating cage is on top of the existing fish cage managed by the said group that was given in 2019.

The fingerlings comes from the Clarin Freshwater Fish Farm, in Clarin.

The BFAR also provides fish feeds supply that are enough for the entire cycle in rearing the tilapia, Samijon said.
