Power finally comes to Tintinan Island
Residents of Tintinan – an island barangay in Ubay town – expresses their elation after electricity finally reached their community via submarine cables from the Bohol mainland.
According to reports from the Office of Second District Cong. Erico Aristotle Aumentado the residents of the said island started to enjoy electricity coming from the Tongonan Geothermal Plant in Leyte via overhead cables to the Maasin Substation and then the power is transmitted to the Guadalupe Cable Terminal Station (CTS).
The solon led the energization ceremonies in Tintinan, a report from his office said.
In his message, Aumentado thanked the National Electrification Administration (NEA) and the Department of Energy (DOE) for the funding, and Boheco II for implementing the project.
He said the submarine cable costs about P24 million while the distribution costs around P2 million.
Aumentado is recognizing the efforts of Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi, NEA Administrator Edgardo Masongsong – his former colleague at the Lower House, Ubay Mayor Constancio Reyes, Boheco II General Manager Eugene Tan and staff for their efforts that contributed to the realization of the islanders’ dreams.
Furthermore, he said they have made a huge difference for his constituents. The solon also expressed gratitude to Reyes for bringing in food packs for all the households in the island.
In the same speech, he especially thanked President Rodrigo Duterte for the support and commitment to sustain the program of energizing islands, islets and far-flung areas in the province. He vowed that more islets will be energized in the near future.
For her part, Tintinan Barangay Captain Victoriana Alacida failed to hold back tears as she expressed gratitude and elation to Aumentado and the parties responsible for the island’s electrification.

Aris: Develop water source first so funds will not be wasted
Second district Rep. Erico Aumentado emphasizes the need to develop the water sources first otherwise funds for water projects might go to waste.
In a statement to the media, the solon said waterworks development is not all about providing funds alone. The community must first develop a viable water source first.
Along this line, Aumentado expressed apprehension following the authority granted to Gov. Arthur Yap by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) to enter into an agreement with the Land Bank of the Philippines (LBP) for a P2 billion loan where P1 billion is earmarked for waterworks projects for various Bohol towns, learning that four towns have signified interest in availing themselves of the funds coming from the loan.
The solon said that he exercises caution when he requests funds from the national agencies to be used for waterworks. He added that before asking for waterworks budget for the towns in his second district, he insists the identification of the water sources first.
As a result, Aumentado asks the local government units (LGU) to submit a feasibility study and program of work as a prerequisite before the solon moves to request funding from appropriate agencies for waterworks projects.
