Tagb inoculates 1,140 frontliners
About 1,140 frontliners from Tagbilaran City are inoculated with the anti-Coronavirus disease (Covid) vaccine during the roll out at the City Hall Atrium, which is one of the designated vaccination centers in the city, according to a report from the City Media Bureau.
The two-day vaccination activity took place on March 23 and 24, 2021.
The frontliners were given the vaccines supplied by the Department of Health (DOH)
The second dose will be administered on May 17 and 18, 2021, according to reports from the City Media Bureau.
Aside from the vaccines from the DOH, Tagbilaran City also procured its own set of vaccines for the Tagbilaranons set to arrive 3rd quarter of the year.

Baba opens Tagb‘s Livelihood Training Center
City Mayor John Geesnell Yap opens the Tagbilaran City Livelihood and Development Unit, which will be housing the chosen residents of the city who will be trained in various livelihood programs, according to the City Media Bureau.
City Consultant Fr. Val Pinlac led the blessing of the new center, with Mayor Yap, Tagbilaran City’s First Lady Jane Yap, City Councilor Dulce Chatto Glovasa, First Consolidated Bank’s Argeo Melisimo, Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Federated President Raul Aparicio, City Livelihood Office Head Adelfa Salutan, City Administrator Cathelyn Torremocha, and City Agrivet Officer Dr. Genette Egos.
The center will be used as the training area for garments making among the members of the Tagbilaran City Women’s Association.
The training in entrepreneurial skills like marketing, accounting, and product development will be handled by the partner schools led by the Bohol Island State University (BISU), Holy Name University (HNU), and University of Bohol (UB).
The other partner agencies like the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Tagbilaran City People’s Council, and the United States Agency for International Development-Strengthening Urban Resilience for Growth and Equity (USAID-SURGE) Project will also be providing additional support.
Mayor Yap said that the local government is continually revitalizing the economy and this new training center will reinforce the City’s targets toward this mission.
“We are doing our best to adapt to the so-called “new normal” by devising creative ways to earn income and provide employment. We will exhaust all possible means so that we could survive this pandemic together. Creating micro-business enterprises is an effective start-up, aside from giving jobs, it will also generate local taxes that will eventually beef up the local economy”, Yap said.

23 PWUDs graduate from MIOP
Twenty-three People Who Use Drugs (PWUD) or Rehabilitated Drug Dependents (RDD) complete the Matrix Intensive Outpatient Program (MIOP) conducted by the City Health Office as facilitated by City Nurse Robin Reyes Culpa.
The MIOP is a community-based drug recovery intervention for low to mild risk illicit drug users.
Culpa said that this program is an initiative to hasten the drug recovery skills of people and to help them re-integrate themselves into normal community life.
“The design of the modules includes the use of small groups, interactive and creative methodologies, and the use of music and prayer when appropriate. The modules also considered Filipino cultural values such as the importance of family and friends,” Culpa reiterated.
City Mayor John Geesnell Yap II said he is proud of the perseverance and dedication that the participants have shown.
The community-based drug rehabilitation program is being consistently implemented in all Tagbilaran City’s barangays to reach out to the people concerned and to help the graduates of the MIOP live reformed lives.
To date, there are already 136 graduates of the MIOP from Tagbilaran City and 449 PWUDs are currently having training sessions under the said program.
