The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) releases livelihood grants to Loon residents in an activity also attended by Cong. Edgar Chatto and Loon Mayor Elvi Relampagos.

The DSWD with Chatto and Relampagos led the handover of financial assistance to first batch of qualified recipients of the Livelihood Assistance Grant (LAG) program on March 23, 2021.

“I hope this aid may lessen the burdens of this health crisis for you and your families,” Chatto told beneficiaries comprised mostly of sari sari store/eatery owners, food vendors, and native mat and bag sellers during short program during the payout at the Catagbacan Norte Gym.

The solon also thanked Loon officials led by Mayor Elvi Relampagos and the DSWD for their cooperation in implementing the program.

Chatto had facilitated funds for the program intended to support low-income families whose livelihood activities were affected due to the quarantine measures amid the Coronavirus disease (Covid) pandemic.

Beneficiaries are identified by local government unit (LGU) led by the local chief executives through their respective City or Municipal Social Welfare and Development Officers and then indorsed to DSWD-Social Welfare and Development (SWAD) Bohol for validation and verification.

Beneficiaries can use the financial grant as seed capital to start a new or enhance their existing micro-enterprises.

The funds may also be utilized to purchase inputs or starter kits needed for the identified micro-enterprise or for employment-related activities.

Mayor Relampagos, for his part, reminded beneficiaries of adherence to basic COVID protocols as he thanked Chatto for the continued support since the health crisis began.
