Aris sees Easter as a time for renewal
by June Blanco
The meditation and “conversations” with the Almighty, the opening of the hearts to forgiveness, reconciliation and love through the Holy Week are the necessary fodders for catharsis in the run-up to Easter that celebrates Christ’s resurrection from the dead. Easter is also a time man to repent for his sins.

Thus Rep. Erico Aristotle Aumentado captures in a nutshell the potpourri of emotions most people go through as they contemplate on the life, death and resurrection of the Savior and burn with zeal and fervor to imitate Him.

“My ultimate wish, is for the people to change for the better – and for them to sustain that change – so that we can all contribute to make this world a better place to live in,” he said.
But more is expected of leaders than the ordinary man next door. Humility and sacrifice are attributes of leaders. For one, the Lord showed His love by dying on the cross for His people. He did not want to give them difficulty. Being all-powerful, He could have enriched Himself, but He chose to live as a pauper.
Riches are not the ticket to heaven – we cannot bring earthly possessions as we face the Maker.
Unless man shows the capacity to understand the angst and pain, love and empathize with fellow men, give less priority to the mundane and renews himself like an innocent child, Jesus, in His teachings had said, “It would be easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the Kingdom of God”.
Man must care for his fellow men. After all, he was not born for his life alone. Men are born for each other, the congressman stressed.
