Despite the pandemic, the City Government is not deterred from implementing the free circumcision program or Operation Tuli for young males under the City Health Office (CHO).
City Mayor John Geesnell Yap said strict health protocol is being implemented in the conduct of the said activity in the various barangays in the city.
“All the personnel in-charge of the activity were given strict instructions to forcefully observe the health standards. We will not let this health crisis disable our mandate to serve. We have been trying our best to adapt to the challenges of this health crisis. I am ever grateful to the City Health Office led by Dr. Jeia Pondoc for always being ready to deliver quality public service at all costs”, Yap said.
The CHO informed the barangay health workers of the basic health protocol for Operation Tuli such as the wearing of face masks and face shields and the observance of physical distancing. The venue is located at the covered court of each barangay providing ample space and ventilation.
Parents or guardians are required to fill out a health declaration form and informed consent prior to the minor operation.
Only 10 boys will be accommodated daily. Health personnel will always observe aseptic technique to minimize the spread of infection. Interested individuals will have to go to the Health Center or contact their Barangay Health Workers (BHW) for registration.
Operation Tuli is on a first come, first served basis. Boys aged 10 years old and above will be prioritized. City Health Nurse Robin Reyes Culpa said that parents should prepare the mindset of their children prior to the minor operation to avoid delays.
