A critic of Jagna mayor Joseph Rañola and an employee of the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Jagna allegedly traded blows inside the barangay hall to settle a score between them.
According to Staff Sgt. Jason Laurden of Jagna police station, an altercation allegedly happened between the critic Seto Bajamonde and LGU employee Gaynor Aviles inside the barangay hall of barangay Lonoy on Thursday, April 8, 2021.
The police officer narrated that Bajamonde went to the Lonoy barangay hall to secure a copy of the barangay blotter that will presumably be used in the case against him that was filed by Aviles.
A person informed Aviles, who lives near the barangay hall, that Bajamonde was inside the hall.
Aviles then confronted Bajamonde and the two allegedly traded blows inside the hall.
After the exchange of blows, Bajamonde and Aviles each went to the police station to record the incident in the police blotter, Laurden said.
The two persons were advised to settle their differences first at the barangay level before taking any further legal action against each other, the police officer told The Bohol Tribune.
It can be remembered that the two have an existing “issue” when Bajamonde allegedly confronted Aviles on Holy Thursday, April 1, 2021.
It was reported that Bajamonde allegedly confronted Aviles because of the latter’s posts on social media against the former.
However, in the first encounter, there was no physical altercation that happened.
Moreover, Aviles managed to file a case against Bajamonde for grave threats.
Bajamonde, according to Laurden, was able to post bail and granted provisional liberty on Tuesday, April 6, 2021.
The critic of the Jagna mayor faces 94 counts of cyber libel charges. The charges were filed by Mayor Rañola.
Aviles, on the other hand, according to Jagna councilor Anthony Aniscal, works as a paralegal person with the LGU and one of the witnesses of the cases filed by Rañola against Bajamonde.
Aside from the cyber crime cases filed by Rañola against Bajamonde, Aniscal also filed 10 counts of cyber libel against Bajamonde before the Regional Trial Court branch 50 in Loay.
