City gov’t completes street light proj. in 4 areas
After the streetlighting activity in Tamblot and B. Inting Streets three months ago, four new locations shone brightly as City Mayor John Geesnell Yap II graced the ceremonial lighting along M. Parras, M. Torralba, H. Zamora, and P. Castillo streets on April 3, 2021.
The mayor attended the ceremonial switching on of the streetlights in along P. Castillo street with Tagbilaran City’s First Lady and Gugma Tagbilaran Founder Jane Yap, Dao Brgy. Kagawad Anthony Cornell, and Engr. Felito Francisco.
These modern streetlights provide a number of important benefits to the community, foremost of which is peace and order. Street lights also improve the safety for drivers, riders, and pedestrians.
It should be remembered that previous to this, major thoroughfares were already lighted starting at Graham Avenue, CPG North to Brgy. Ubujan, Petron Dampas to National Food Authority (NFA), CPG East Avenue Caltex station to Bool-Baclayon Boundary, and Enerio Street to Dampas Elementary School.
Mayor Yap has been focusing in providing sound infrastructure ever since he assumed the top post in the City Government. To date, out of the 90.71 kms. of city roads, which need to be concreted in Tagbilaran City, the City Engineering Office under the directive of Mayor Yap, has concreted 61.47 kilometers of city roads, not to mention the installation of drainage system which was placed in strategic areas.
Mayor Yap said that infrastructure will always be a priority for the City Government.
These equipment provided by the City Government aim to assist the conduct of the blended learning. Mayor Yap turns over equipment to all public schools in Tagb
On December 2020, the Department of Education (DepEd), Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), and the Department of Budget Management (DBM) release a Joint Circular No. 2, s. 2020 to widen the use of the Special Education Fund (SEF) to further assist schools during this pandemic.
With the Joint Circular, SEF can now shoulder the expenses for the production of the self-learning modules, textbooks, activity sheets, and study guides or manuals approved and quality-assured by the DepEd.
Tagbilaran City Government wasted no time and procured duplicator, colored printer/copier, heavy duty collator, table top binder, automatic heavy-duty stapler and heavy-duty paper cutter.
These equipment are stationed in the Learning Resource Management System at the Tagbilaran City Central School to fast track the production of modules, while heavy-duty photocopiers were provided to all the City’s public schools.
City Mayor John Geesnell Yap II is constantly finding ways in assisting the needs of the education sector during this pandemic.
“We are committed to help our learners maximize their potentials even amidst the health crisis. In fact, we are optimistic that we could hurdle this pandemic as long as we are disciplined and mindful”, Yap said.
Aside from the equipment, the City Government through the SEF also hired learning aides to assist the teachers in the preparation and management of the blended learning.
The city is committed to help from the production or reproduction of learning modules, activity sheets, and other learning materials up to the monitoring and tracking of the learners’ progress.
The learning aides are also encouraged to guide the learners and parents to engage the students in other extra-curricular activities so that the students can still have a platform towards holistic learning in this pandemic.
The prompt payment of taxes by the Tagbilaranons made this initiative possible. Tagbilaran City’s SEF has been exponentially increasing since Yap’s assumption in office. From P25 million in 2013, the SEF of Tagbilaran City ballooned to P 78 million in 2020 resulting to improved services and support to education. The SEF has been instrumental in providing additional classrooms to all the City’s public schools, security guards, laboratories, multi-purpose covered courts, uniforms, and equipment.
