After the roll-out of vaccines to the health care workers and front liners, the City Government of Tagbilaran is now gearing up for the next administration of Coronavirus disease (Covid) vaccines to the rest of the Tagbilaran City population.

The Covid Vaccine Online Pre-Registration is now live in the City Government website, https://tagbilaran.gov.ph/.

City Mayor John Geesnell Yap II, Tagbilaran City’s First Lady Jane Yap, City Health Officer Dr. Jeia Pondoc, and Information Technology Head Mariano Tambis led the launch of the online site on April 14, 2021, in the City Hall Atrium.

Last month, Tagbilaran City’s front liners and health care workers received the first dose of their Covid vaccines.

The second dose is scheduled to be administered on May 17 and 18, 2021, according to the information from the City Media Bureau.

Mayor Yap during an interview said that Covid vaccination is a safer way to help build protection against the disease.

“COVID-19 vaccination will be an important tool to help stop the pandemic. Of course, wearing masks and staying six feet apart from others will help reduce your chance of being exposed to the virus or spreading it to others, but these measures are not enough. Vaccines will work with your immune system so it will be ready to fight the virus. Stopping this pandemic requires using all the tools we have available and the ultimate game changer may stem from the experts continuously working out a solution vis-à-vis the people doing their responsibility”, Yap said.

In fact, studies have shown that fully vaccinated people are less likely to be infected without showing symptoms and potentially less likely to spread the virus that causes Covid to others.

Today the world is facing an invisible enemy. This war is totally different from those we were trained to combat. These vaccines may just be the perfect weapon to win this battle.
