Transportation Sec. Arthur Tugade led the inaguration of the new Passenger Terminal Building (PTB) at the Tagbilaran Tourist Sea Port on Wednesday, April 14, 2021.
The Department of Transportation (DOTr) said in a release that the PTB, which is located inside the Passenger Terminal Complex of the sea port, is a two-storey structure with a total floor area of 1,843.37 square meters.
The DOTr further revealed that the new terminal has a capacity of 1,110 passengers, which is more than its previous capacity of 497 passengers..
Tugade led the inauguration, along with Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) General Manager Jay Santiago and PPA Port Manager James Gantalao.
The inauguration was also attended by Gov. Arthur Yap, District Representatives Edgar Chatto (first), Aris Aumentado (2nd) and Kristine Alexie Tutor (3rd), Tagbilaran Mayor Baba Yap with Board Members led by Jade Bautista.
Tugade mentioned that the newly-constructed passenger terminal building is another remarkable achievement for the country’s maritime sector.
Right after the inauguration, Tugade and Santiago made a surprise inspection of the Land Transportation Office (LTO) in Tagbilaran.
Tugade hinted about the possible relocation of the office and its impounding area.
