1 Boholano dies in Surigao sea mishap

1 Boholano died in the sea mishap that happened in the waters off Surigao del Norte where another Boholano survived.

According to the post of former Board Member Jaja Jumamoy, the dead body of  Auxtero, 23, of barangay San Jose, Talibon was found on Friday, Apr. 23, 2021.

Earlier, Roger Polo of Inabanga, the chief mate of the ill-fated LCT Cebu Great Ocean, survived and now recuperating at the Caraga Regional Hospital.

The discovery of Auxtero’s body was confirmed by Coast Guard Station (CGS) Surigao chief Elaine Pangilinan, according to reports.

Auxtero’s body was found with another fatality who was another member of the ship’s crew identified as Lemuel Davidas.

The discovery of the 2 bodies raised the total death toll related to the sea accident to 6.

Reports said that Auxtero’s body was found in barangay Oslao, San Francisco, Surigao del Norte.

The other fatalities are identified as Norman Galon, Michael Inoc, Jose Sherwin Laniba, and Mark Evan Cuesta, according to reports.

Reports added that LCT Cebu Great Ocean was battered by huge waves at the height of Typhoon Bising and ran aground in the waters off San Francisco, Surigao del Norte on Apr. 19, 2021.

Around seven crew members of the ill-fated ship remain missing as of press time, reports added.
