For researchers in the University of Bohol, research never stops, even with the pandemic as they shine in a recent international conference.
Researchers around the world presented their respective studies during the 2nd International Virtual Conference on Interdisciplinary Research in Higher Education (IVCIRHE 2021) on April 8-10, 2021 via ZOOM Video Teleconferencing.
The conference which had the theme “Interdisciplinary Research For Collective Survival,” was organized by the International Association of Scholarly Publishers, Editors and Reviewers (IASPER) in partnership with co-hosts: UB through its University Research Center (URC) and STIE Perbanas Surabaya of Surabaya, Indonesia.
“Despite the challenges brought about by the new normal, the organizers and participants were intent on making sure that they were able to virtually share new knowledge, solutions and innovations in advancing educational frontiers,” UB President Dr. Victoriano B. Tirol, III, said in his message for the event.
The conference reflected the researchers’ interest in promoting multidisciplinary research findings among higher educational institutions across borders.
Building on its strong showing in previous research conferences, the UB’s 27-person strong contingent, consisting of faculty and student researchers won several major awards during the 3-day event.
UB was again awarded the Research Productivity Award in recognition of the research culture of the university which has resulted in sustainable research productivity of both student and faculty researchers. This is the fourth time UB has won such honor.
Dr. Leah Wilfreda Echavez-Pilongo was recognized with the Research Advocacy Award for being one of the keynote speakers of the event.
Meanwhile, the following presenters won Best in Oral Presentation for their respective papers: Angelo Yuayan for Sexual and Non-Sexual Risky Behaviors among Adolescents in Tagbilaran City, Dr. Charito Barol-Sapong for Semantic-Based Description of Jose Garcia-Villa’s Select Poetic Texts, and Dr. Jelinda Rosillo-Fortich for Teachers’ Emotional Labor in Relations to Classroom Management Practices of UB, Tagbilaran City, Bohol.
Moreover, Dr. Janice Aurora Tirol-Namoc won took the Best Abstract Award for her paper on Association between Religious Index and Risky Sexual Behaviors among Adolescents.
These latest achievements further cement the research credentials of the university as it aims to further strengthen its research culture and make its mark in the greater research community. (Elijah L. Sales)
