DOH-7 probes adverse event that happened to Bohol frontliner who received 2nd dose of Sinovac vaccine

The Department of Health (DOH) 7 is probing a report that a frontliner from Bohol allegedly suffered from a serious adverse effect after receiving a second dose of the Sinovac vaccine, Dr. Mary Jean Loreche said.

According to Loreche, DOH-7 spokesperson and chief pathologist, said during her regular press briefing on Monday afternoon, April 26, 2021, health authorities are now investigating the alleged report of serious adverse effect that happened to a Bohol frontliner.

As of Monday, Loreche revealed that the DOH-7 only knows that the said frontliner is below the age of 35.

The said frontliner allegedly is hypertensive, she quipped.

In the same press briefing, Loreche said that the DOH surveillance officers have started the investigation regarding the reported serious adverse effect by getting the facts and checking the hospital records.

Meanwhile, Loreche said the DOH-7 received information that there are 181 mild adverse events reported by persons who received the second dose of the Sinovac vaccine in Central Visayas region. There is one serious adverse event recorded involving a person in Central Visayas who received the second dose of the Sinovac vaccine, she added.

She added that a person was recorded having a serious adverse event as 1,067 persons with mild adverse effects were recorded after receiving the first dose of Sinovac in Central Visayas.

Moreover, there are 1,316 mild adverse effects reported after the administration of the first dose of the AstraZenica vaccine in the Central Visayas region.

In total, there are 2,567 persons who reportedly experienced adverse effects in Central Visayas for the period spanning March 4 to April 25, 2020, Loreche said.
