Aris brings projects to 2nd district despite pandemic

By JUNE S. BLANCO

Despite the increasing number of Coronavirus disease (Covid) cases in Bohol, Second District Rep. Erico Aristotle Aumentado, assisted by his wife Vanessa and staff, remains committed in bringing projects to the 2nd district towns, on top of providing hygiene kits, immunity-boosting vitamins, food and personal protective equipment (PPE) to frontliners.
Aumentado, in a statement, said he is working to provide projects for livelihood support.
The funding for the projects in the said district comes from the 2019 General Appropriations Act (GAA), thru programs and projects of national government agencies.
The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) on Friday, April 30, 2021, distributed toolkits to graduates who were trained in Electrical Installation Maintenance (EIM) and Cookery at the Bohol Northern Star Colleges in Poblacion, Ubay.
Three days earlier, on Tuesday, April 27, 2021, the solon and wife Vanessa, Senior TESDA Specialist Juanito Tumanda and Talibon Mayor Janette Garcia also distributed toolkits and national certificate (NC) 1 to graduates of Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) at the Sangguniang Bayan (SB) Hall of the said town.
On the other hand, Aumentado also distributed livelihood checks in the early part of April 2021, to organizations which are qualified under the Department of Labor and Employment’s Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP).
Recipients of the benefits under the DILP are the Ubay Northeastern Dairy Breeders Association in Barangay San Vicente, P488,000 for farm equipment services and rentals, and the Pantalan Habal-habal and Tricycle Drivers Association (Phatda) in Barangay Tapal, Ubay, P439,200, for carwashing, vulcanizing and motorcycle parts retailing.
Tapal in Ubay hosts the wharf that serves the ships coming from and going to the island municipality of President Carlos P. Garcia, Bohol and the nearby Leyte provinces and even Mindanao.
Meanwhile, Aumentado also facilitated the release of six brand new land ambulance units purchased under the 2019 GAA funds.
The Rural Health Units (RHUs) of Danao, San Isidro and San Miguel towns each have one unit ambulance.
The Garcia Memorial Provincial Hospital (GMPH) in Talibon has two ambulances, while the CPG Memorial Hospital in the island-town of President Carlos P. Garcia has one ambulance.
Furthermore, Aumentado and wife Vanessa turned over a sea ambulance each to the island barangays of Alumar and Pandanon  in Getafe town on Thursday, April 29, 2021.
