TAGBILARAN’S FIESTA IN THE NEW NORMAL

This scene yesterday of a law enforcer (left) doing inspection of the necessary documents brought by the motorcycle riders (right) at the entry road to the city at barangay Manga, just proves how vigilant, sincere and efficient Tagbilaran City is in its implementation of the protocol to fight the unseen enemy causing pain and agony in the entire world. Done during the City’s New Normal version of the May 1, 2021 fiesta celebration, the inspection was a welcome gesture by people from different fronts. Unlike the fiesta celebrations of the past where fiesta guests were able to enter the city and celebrate the occasion wantonly, the Covid-19 pandemic forced designated authorities to install checkpoints to diligently express a strong statement such as, “We Mean Business here!” Mayor John Geesnell Yap II disallowed yesterday the city entry of people who had no business to be in Tagbilaran, in order to prevent social gatherings in relation to the fiesta celebration. The mayor stressed that social gatherings could be a fertile ground for the spread of the Covid virus which could lead to further surge of cases. Photo by Jonas Añuver
